You are welcome to connect your eligible debit cards to your Dosh app, however if you do so, we cannot guarantee that your in-person transactions will automatically register in our system.
When your linked debit card is used, the transaction goes directly to your bank and not the credit card companies that we’re linked with, which are Visa, MasterCard, and American Express. Cash back is provided automatically through the records from credit card processors.
We always recommend swiping your linked debit card as a credit card when shopping in-person; otherwise, you may not receive any cash back automatically. Please do not use your PIN #; if you input a PIN the transaction will go directly to your bank, and it will not register in our system. Swiping your debit as credit allows us to identify your transaction, so that you will receive automatic cash back after you make your qualifying purchase. Please note, chip readers tend to force transactions through as debit, so swiping is key!
That being said, sometimes a merchant's POS system will force debit transactions regardless, even if you didn't input a PIN. We have found this to be especially true with local restaurants and smaller businesses. You may need to continue to submit receipts for manual payout if you use a debit card.
